What is Madewell Return Policy?
Customers have 30 days to decide if they want to keep or return an item they bought from Madewell. This is true for purchases made in the store, online, and in the store for delivery.
All items sent back to Madewell should be in brand-new condition and have no damage. On top of that,
- Swimwear, bodysuits, and intimates must be returned with their original tags and protective liners still attached.
- For cash purchases in a store, you need the original receipt.
- You’ll also need the gift receipt if you want to exchange something you received as a gift.

How Do I Return My Madewell Purchase?
Madewell gives you a lot of options for how to return an item you bought in-store or online. No matter where you bought something from Madewell, you can return it online or in-store.
This means you can bring both online and in-store purchases back to their store or send them back by mail, whichever is easier for you.
Ship Your Return By Mail
For online purchases: If you want to buy something online, go to their page and give them the information they need about your order.
After you’ve done what you needed to do, you can print a label. Remember that only Madewell insiders can get free return shipping. When you return other items to Madewell, you’ll have to pay a $7.50 shipping fee, which will be taken out of your refund.
Put all of the items back together with their return slips, put the label on the box, and send it back to their warehouse.
If you don’t want to print a label, you can also download the QR code and drop off your packages at a USPS location.
For In-store purchases: send the items to the address below with a copy of your receipt.

Once your things get to their facility, they’ll issue a refund for the way you paid. Your return will take about two weeks to process. If you have more than one order in the same package, it could take an extra week.
Return To Store
You can bring all of your eligible purchases back to their store, whether you bought them in-store, online, or in-store for delivery. The only rule is that the item must be sent to an address in the United States.
Just take the item to the store closest to you within 30 days. Remember that all returns to Madewell must be in the same condition as when you bought them and come with the original receipt, packing slip, or gift receipt.
Madewell Return Policy Without Receipt
On the official policy page for Madewell, it says that you only need a receipt for cash purchases. So you can go to the store even if you don’t have a receipt and return your card purchase.
If you bought something online, you’ll need to include the return packing slip for each order you’re sending back.
Madewell International Returns
If you live outside the US and aren’t happy with an international online purchase you made, you have to start a return 48 hours after the item arrives, because you can’t send an international return until 48 hours after the item arrives.
Their online store partner, eShopWorld, will give you a refund in the same currency for the price of the item plus any duties and taxes. Remember that you’ll still have to pay for shipping both ways when you send something back to Madewell.
Are Online Returns Free?
Members of Madewell Insiders can only return items for free if they do so within 30 days. Other U.S. customers who use Madewell’s pre-paid return label will have to take $7.50 out of their refund to pay for return shipping. Customers can also send items back using any traceable shipping service they want to pay for on their own.
Items that are monogrammed, personalized, or vintage cannot be returned to Madewell because they are on final sale and cannot be returned.

Madewell Refund Policy
Once your item gets to their warehouse and is processed, they’ll start a refund to the way you paid for it in the first place. It takes about two weeks to process the return (one week more if you are returning multiple items).
When they’re done with your return, they’ll send you an email to let you know. After this, it will take 3–5 business days for you to get your money back.

Madewell Exchange Policy
You can’t return things you buy from Madewell, but you can exchange them. You have to send the items back first to get a refund, then place a new order for a replacement.
The Madewell return policy makes it very easy to send items back because the process is flexible. If you bought your Madewell item in their store or online, you can return it anywhere.
The only exceptions are items that are personalized, old, or from a marketplace. All Madewell returns must be made within 30 days.

Swimwear, bodysuits, and intimates that are being returned must still have their original tags and protective liners. When you return beauty products, they must be brand new or barely used.
Can you return to Madewell without a receipt?
In-store purchases made with cash must be accompanied by the original receipts if the customer wants a refund or an exchange.
Also, if you want to return or exchange a Madewell item that was given to you as a gift, you must have the original gift receipt.
Can you return to Madewell without a tag?
Items must be returned in the same shape they were in when you got them (i.e., items that are new with tags must have original tags attached, clothing must not be worn or washed, etc.).
The original shipping cost won’t be refunded for items that are being sent back. Items that are “final sale” can’t be sent back.
What does Madewell do with returns?
If you are a Madewell Insider, you can return items for free as long as you do it within 30 days. For everything else, the cost of return shipping, which is $7.50 no matter how many items you send back, will be taken out of your refund.
Does Madewell do store credit?
Madewell credit is store credit that can be used to buy anything in the store, on Madewell.com, or through the Madewell app. Your Madewell credit never goes away because it doesn’t have an expiration date.
